The people at Back Porch productions have just finished their efforts in recording the entire soundtrak to Scrooge. Thanks to the mastery of Gary Wilson and CrowSong Recordings where the soundtrak was recorded, Back Porch Productions can expect the CD's release in early December. The CD will be available on opening night Decemeber 11th at Corning East High Auditorium. Crowsong Recordings (Savona, NY) proved to be the perfect choice for a major project such as this. Recorded with full orchestra and chorus, this was an undertaking that involved over 70 individuals over a period of three months. Needless to say we are very excited about the project and the quality product that our customers will hear. Stay tuned for more information about the CD and other happenings at DelAngelo Music.
Back Porch Productions in association with DelAngelo Music have just begun rehearsals for Scrooge, The Musical. This is the third consecutive year the the production has been performed in Corning NY. Two years with Angels in the Wings is just what we needed to get things off the ground.
Scrooge, The Musical and The Palace TheatreDecember 17, 2004
The Palace Theatre in Lockport NY, has recently finished a highly successful run of Scrooge, The Musical. Running from December 2nd through December 5th, Scrooge was a big hit. Crowds were delighted as was The Palace Theatre which boasted near sell-out crowds. The management invited Smith to the Saturday evening performance and seated him in the front row, center to enjoy his creation. According to Chris Prada, the artistic director and Ellen Schratz, the board president, they plan to make this production an annual event and of course we are very happy to hear this. The cast and crew of The Palace Theatre should be bursting with pride at the spectacular production they have delivered to the people of Lockport and the Niagra Region.
To all the cast and crew of Scrooge, The Musical I say a big CONGRATULATIONS! I saw Saturday night's performance and I was delighted. There was magic on the stage that night and it carried over into the audience. People all around me were 'oohing' and 'ahhing,' laughing and crying. The energy from the cast was electrifying to say the least. The lights were right on as far as I was concerned. They added such intensity to the many emotions in the play. The Set.....Wow! The graveyard scene was to die for...(please excuse the sad attempt at humor). That tombstone must have taken forever to put together and the idea of having it on the other side of the fireplace was great! 'Ebenezer' in flames was genious interpretation.-Because we all know that Scrooge's grave was not a real grave, but a gateway to the world to which he was headed. -it gave me chills when I saw it. I hope you all gave Chris a big hug like I did, because he led you to greatness. The artistic interpretation was second to none, and added dimensions I had only dreamed of. The chorus sounded spectacular and your diction on the 'altered' carols really brought out the mood of the scene.-I understood every word. To the pit I say a sincere 'BRAVO!' You made all my wrong notes sound great! (ha ha)Sorry about all those double sharps. The synthesizer was brilliant addition, and added mystique to the errie scences. There's not enough I can say about what a wonderful time my wife and I had. Thank you all for treating us so nice at the Gala afterwards.- You sure know how to throw a party. Thanks again for taking a chance on 'Scrooge, The Musical.' Sincerely, David H. Smith Jr. Composer and Palace Theatre Fan
