Libretto
[ scene one opens with the local townspeople in the streets, milling around outside “Scrooge Enterprises”]
Chorus: Its Never too late to say Merry Christmas
Say it and your life has just begun
There’s no better thing to say
To brighten up your day
Merry Christmas Everyone
Times may seem hard sometimes
And life can get you down
But here’s two words for you to say
That can turn your life around
its never too late to say Merry Christmas
Say it and your life has just begun
There’s no better thing to say
To brighten up your day
You never know it may be strange but
Even the worst of us can change Its
Never too late to say Merry Christmas
You feel it in your heart you know its true
There’s no better thing to say
To brighten up your day
Merry Christmas to you
[instrumental]
its Never too late to say Merry Christmas
You feel it in your heart you know its true
It’s Never too late to change
It’s never too late to say
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you!
chorus: God bless the hungry
God bless the poor
It’s the time for giving (can you see inside of me)
Can you give a little more (and the man I’ve now become)
[a man holds out a tin cup on need of a coin to which Scrooge turns up his nose and walks quickly away from the crowd]
Scrooge: “Bah Humbug!”
[exits through the door of his office an up to his counting room]
Chorus: God bless the misers
For their work is never done
: Even they could use your blessing
God
bless us everyone!
Solo1: How can you say this man needs our God’s blessing?
I say he needs something more like a curse.
What’s he ever done for you ?
Solo2: What’s he ever done for me?
Solo 3: He’s a mole.
Solo 4: A stingy monger!
Solo 5: An evil miser.
Solo 6: a thrifty monster.
Solo 7: he’s everything you say and much, much worse!
Marley: Yes I know of this miser you speak ,
He’s every foul thing that you said.
We had a small business, my name on the door
After his, “Scrooge and Marley” it read.
How we cheated our neighbors,
Never gave up a dime,
And we shunned every urchin
Who wasted our time!
Yes I knew this old miser
I knew him quite well
Till the day that I died,
Now I’m condemned to hell.
And although I’m just a spirit,
Who’s bound to hell to burn in flames
I’ve considered it my ghostly duty
To see he never does the same.
[Lights go down on Marley-he exits]
[nephew enters and knocks at Scrooge’s office door.]
Scrooge: Who dares to bother me while I am counting up my gold?
Bolt the door! Lock the safe! Put all affairs of mine on hold.
Go away, leave me be! Or I shall ring up Scotland Yard..
Leave your business on the doorstep, and my clerk shall take your card.
Nephew: No need to worry uncle, its only I, your nephew Fred,
Who would like, to perhaps invite you to our Christmas Dinner…
Scrooge: Christmas you say! Why must every year you carry on in this way?
I can’t believe my relative supports such a day!
It’s nonsense I believe
To give than to receive
I think it better yet,
to take what you can get.
*What has Christmas done for you?
What has it ever done for me?
Did it give you wealth or fame,
Or bring great credit to your name.
Has it brought you perfect health
Or made your greatest wish come true
Have you ever really wondered,
What has Christmas done for you?
How many times must I hear, “Merry Christmas!”
Man it makes the blood boil in my veins.
How can they boast such a whimsical phrase when
Not a one of them can pay their debts to me?
What has Christmas done for you?
What will it ever do for me?
Can it provide in time of need.
Will it protect me from disease.
Will it warm me in the cold.
Or bring great wealth for all to see
What has Christmas done for you?
What will Christmas ever do for me?
Nephew: True, through the years I haven’t made fortune
Either way I find it does me well.
And even though I haven’t gold or silver
I’m a fool for Christmas and I say God Bless it !
Dinner starts at half past four
There is an open invitation.
And we would love to see you there
Although I mean no provocation.
No matter what you choose to do,
Merry Christmas Uncle Scrooge.
Scrooge: “Christmas ? Bah Humbug, Humbug, I say.”
[exit nephew]
Perhaps one day you’ll see it too…Nephew:(perhaps one day you’ll finally see)
What has Christmas done for you? Nephew:(Just what a blessing it can be)
[exit Scrooge]
END SCENE I
SCENE II [outside Scrooge’s door; carolers are collecting money]
Chorus: Who’s in there counting in the parlor
Saving
every penny he can thieve
We
know who’s in there hiding,
One
who cares not much for tithing
If
only he would see us?
Are
you in there? “Hey!!” (pp) Can you hear us?
We’re
from the local mission
Caroling
from door to door
And
in song we’d like to say
How much shall we put you down for?
It’s such a
Beautiful night for singing all the army bells are ringing
And not one of us wanted to do your house today
But then how would the poor be fed?
Who would fill our bucket of red?
Throw a buck in the bucket and we’ll be on our way.
What makes you
Stingier every minute could it be your heart’s not in it can you
You spare a half a copper maybe more…..
Although we know you can be a weasel and a
And a heartache to the poor,
How much shall we put you down for?
Scrooge: [counter melody/half notes]
You don’t know me
I’m a man of particular class and station, now then
Good day, be on your way. I will
Never let go of such hard earned pay.
All my life I’ve worked to live
Is it my fault I’ve more?
Although you see me as a weasel,
and a heartache to the poor,
Just what are you taking me for?

[ END SONG]
[ the carolers exit and we see Bob Cratchit leaving out the front door. Before he leaves, he turns around and reluctantly starts to ask for Christmas Day off]
Bob : Mr. Scrooge I see you’re busy, but there’s a matter to discuss
Every year around this season, there is an issue between us
I know that celebrating Christmas
Has never been your way ,
You see the matter’s in regards
To… my time off on Christmas Day.
Scrooge: How dare you …
ask such a thing, I can’t believe you have the nerve
After all that I have given you
Is this what I deserve
Yes, every year you say this day is only one
But why should I be paying you for work you’ve never done.
Well go ahead and take your day.
But be well aware, I’ll dock your pay
Bob: Mr. Scrooge how can I thank you
For your unselfish deed
Rest assured I’ll be here early next day’s morn.
Scrooge: And you shall work for me much harder
Then you ever did before
Consider yourself very lucky
Now
be gone and say no more
Bob: Merry Christmas Mr. Scrooge.
Scrooge: To that I only bid “Good day.”
That’s all you’ll ever hear me say!
[exit Bob Cratchit]
INSTRUMENTAL
It’s getting late, and time for bed
Instead of work (wine), I’ll sleep instead.
TRAVEL MUSIC GOES HERE
[Scrooge sets down his books, and bottle of wine. He puts on his night cap and climbs into bed.]
[END scene II]
[as Scrooge sleeps, we hear the voices of the Lady Sprits, a ghostly heralding of Marley’s Ghost. (ironically)They are singing an eerie version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. Scrooge becomes restless in a half sleep, as if he is hearing things.]
Spirits: God rest ye merry gentlemen
God rest ye merry gentlemen
God rest ye merry gentlemen
God rest ye merry gentlemen
“God rest ye merry gentlemen
let nothing you dismay
for unto you there shall descend
the dead this very day
For when the clock is striking ten
And you are fast asleep
Oh beware of the company you’ll keep
“Ooooo”
Oh beware of the company you’ll keep.
God rest ye merry gentlemen
God rest ye merry gentlemen
God rest ye merry gentlemen
God rest ye merry gentlemen
God rest ye merry gentlemen
God rest, God rest, God rest
Rest [music rests] Rest [same] Rest [decrecendo/fermata]
[when the spirits are finished, we hear the bell toll, maybe 3x , and
this starts to awaken Scrooge. The music changes to Marley’s theme and thus begins the rattling of chains and
feet plodding almost in time with
the music. Scrooge now appears more freightened.]
Scrooge: Chains? Chains? Is that dreadful noise I’m hearing really chains?
No doubt he is a prisoner, still shackled in bonds
Escaping… Hiding… Hiding where?
Marley: [knock,
knock knock]
Scrooge: Who’s there?
Marley: [knock,
knock knock]
Scrooge: Who’s there?
Marley: [knock,
knock knock]
Scrooge: ……Who’s there!<E7_____________>
Marley:<am Marley’ theme> _Ebenezer! ___Ebenezer you know who I am!
Scrooge: Who are you? Who are you?
Marley: Ebenezer! Ebenezer ask me who I was!
Scrooge: Who were you then? Who were you then?
Marley: ___In life , I was your partner Jacob Marley.
Scrooge: Jacob? Jacob Marley?
Am I to hear you right,
And believe what you just said?
It must have been at least 6 years
That Jacob has been dead.
My! How you’ve changed.
Please sit down.
I’ll be your host.
You really don’t look well;
You look as white as a ghost!
Marley: (shouting) SILENCE!!! Or be forever damned to Hell!
Scrooge: (frightened) Ah, have mercy on me Jacob, Oh spirit, dark angel
Why do you trouble me,
and haunt me near insane.
Have mercy. Have mercy.
What are you to do with me?
Why do you appear to me in chains?
Marley: Listen very closely to the story that I tell
These chains get very heavy
When you carry them through hell.
I’m cursed to forever witness
The joys my soul can’t share.
And these heavy chains remind me
Of the burden that I bare.
I
forged this chain in life, now
I
wear these bonds in death.
Each
link, a deed I wish that I could change.
This
chain should look familiar,
your chain started long ago
Do
the shackles that I wear look very strange?
If
I could I’d break the bonds that hold me
and
travel back in time
To
start again and twist the hands of fate
But
these chains have grown too heavy
For
a soul to ever change.
and
for me the chance to change has come too late!
Seven years of torture for remorse I should have known
Condemned to spend the past
And eternity alone
My message is a simple one
For you its not too late.
If you break the chain binds you
You will never share my fate
Chorus: I forged
this chain in life, now
I
wear these bonds in death.
Each
link, a deed I wish that I could change.
This
chain should look familiar,
your chain started long ago
Do
the shackles that I wear look very strange?
If
I could I’d break the bonds that hold me
And
travel back in time
To
start again and twist the hands of fate
But
these chains have grown too heavy
For
a soul to ever change.
and
for me the chance to change has come too late!
and
for me the chance to change has come too late!
Scrooge: Why may I ask do you give this chance me?
Marley: (parting theme) Consider this my gift to you
As well as three more haunting spirits
Each one shall visit on the hour,
The first at twelve two more to follow.
Remember all these words at dawn
Now I shall leave you and be gone…
[travel music]
Scrooge: How's a man to clearly think,
hearing voices in his head
I shall put this night behind me
And sleep peacefully in bed
[travel music begins and Scrooge returns to
lay in his bed and starts to fall asleep]
Spirits: Sleep.
Sleep.
Sleep.
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent Night
Dark is the Night
All is calm
Gone the light
Here in the dark
The angry man sleeps
Quite unaware of the spirits he keeps
Sleep in the dreams of the past
Sleep in the dreams of the past
Sleep.
Sleep.
Sleep.
Sleep.
[ we hear the sound of another knocking ]
Scrooge: Hello, is someone there? Nonsense! What am I thinking?
Scrooge: A silly dream.
Why should I be afraid of just a dream?
My mind was playing tricks on me or
Maybe some young prankster came to call.
Yes that's it that's all it was ,
There's no such thing as ghosts.
That's why I must believe.
That everything that happened here
Is nothing more than just a silly dream
Chorus: Hey there Scrooge
We
think that you aught to know
Soon
there will be another spirit
Runnin’
your show
Just
in time
To
take a look at your past
Time
is going by rather fast
A silly dream
You really think that this was just a dream?
Marley came, you know its true
Your mind has played no trick on you.
How can you deny that which you see?
You think a dream is all it was,
And know all this is so because
There's no such things as ghosts
But this you must believe
That everything that happened here
Is
something more than just a silly dream.
Hey
there Scrooge we want to
Tell
you once more
There’s
a spooky spirit
Waiting
outside your door
Whoa
there Scrooge
Have
you gone out of your mind?
Have
you even checked out the time?
[as the music subsides, the scrooge is awakened by the toll of the bell, sounding 12 midnight, and wonders how he missed the 11 o'clock bell]
END SCENE III
SCENE IV
Scrooge: How could that be the stroke of twelve?
What happened to the hour before?
Is that a man or ghost I see
Appearing through my door?
Be still old heart, it's coming near'
I've never been so scared before
I do believe that's not a man
Appearing through my door!
[Past's travel music]
Past: I'm the first of three great spirits
who's time on earth fades fast.
Take my hand and I shall guide you
on a journey through your past.
You may have already gathered
I'm not your normal ghost
you see I come from a time
when all was sublime,
a time when you were happy the most.
Look into the mirror
tell me what you see.
Scrooge: It’s a small little boy
with his favorite toy.
and he looks quite a lot like me. (its you)
Past: Other kids are opening presents
Why is he playin alone
is that a tear in your eye
didn't know you could cry
Scrooge: 'tis a blemish, let's be moving on
Scrooge: It’s my sister and I
The day before she had died
What is she saying to me?
Sister: I have come to bring you home.
you are welcome once again
I just had to ask our father one more time.
and now he says you may stay with us
for one final Christmas day.
Then you're to pack your things forever
and then be moving on your way.
Scrooge: She was always a kind girl
such my favorite one
Past: it’s a terrible shame
there is no one to blame
at least you have the joy of her son.
Scrooge: My nephew Fred?
of course my nephew Fred
Past: Yes the one you never visit
never call, or never see.
The nephew that you never played with
never dined with.
never stayed with.
Past: Look into the mirror
tell me what you see.
Scrooge: I remember this place
And that man’s silly face
He was as kind as a boss could be
Mister Fezziwig taught me all I know
He always worked so hard each night and day
Something crazy crossed his mind
And he’d throw the biggest party
That the town had ever seen
Mr. F: Roll up the rugs!
Workers: Roll up the rugs!
Mr F: Shut down the store!
Workers: Shut down the store!
Mr. F: We’re gonna have a Christmas party
Like you’ve never seen before
Christmas Time’s the only time for me
Rockin around, getting down by the Christmas tree
Just one dance and you will finally see why
Workers: Christmas Time’s the only time for me
Rockin around, getting down by the Christmas tree
Just one dance and you will finally see why
Christmas time’s the only time for me
Mr. F: Everybody sing, “ho, ho, ho,” under the mistletoe
Have a holly jolly jingle on the sleigh bells in the snow
We’ve got that “Merry Christmas” feeling in our soul..
Why don’t you take your partner by the hand
And give it up for the boys in the band yeah,
Just one dance and you will finally see why
Workers: Christmas time’s the only time for me.
[choreographed dance number here]
Workers: Everybody sing, “ho, ho, ho,” under the mistletoe
Have a holly jolly jingle on the sleigh bells in the snow
We’ve got that “Merry Christmas” feeling in our soul..
Why don’t you take your partner by the hand
And give it up for the boys in the band yeah,
Christmas time
Christmas time
Christmas time’s the only time for me.
(yeahh!)
Scrooge: Why did he
act like such a fool
Ghost: True, perhaps you’re better off
Without the people
Who knew you well
The family and the friends who disowned you
Who never cared to
Know what you went through
Scrooge: Show me no more
I don't think I can take it
what are you trying to do?
Past: true perhaps
but there is one more shadow
that I have to put you through.
Look into the mirror
and see the love you lost
she couldn’t handle the scene
shady deals and the greed
you had to win at any cost
she's in the arms of another
Married and happier too.
than she would have been,
you can bet on it friend
than if she ever agreed to marry you.
Scrooge: my how she's living so happy
and spirit I'm sure you speak true
how could a woman like her love a man
like me knowing me like I do.
How could a woman like her
love a man like me
knowing me as I am
surely a woman like her
needs a loving, kind, and a pure gentle man.
She made the right choice
he's as good as a husband could be
Oh how could a woman like her
love a man like me.
I can't believe through these long years
still how I hurt inside
yet I go on pretending so
hiding the tears I cry.
Woman: How could a woman like me
love a man like him
knowing him as he was ?
why did his work and
unending selfish greed
have to always come between us?
I made the right choice
he's as good as a husband can be
but why can't a man like him
love a woman like me?
I can't believe its been ten years
still how I hurt inside
yet I go on pretending so
hiding the tears I cry.
Husband: Why does a man like me
feel threatened with the thought ,
part of her still really cares
I have no right to feel such a way
but still its a part of her he shares
she made the right choice
I'm as true as a husband could be
but how can that woman share her
love with that man and me
There’s no doubt I love her so
But somehow its changed
I see the way she looked at him
While in town today.
[all three verses together]
.
Both: she/I made the right choice
he's/she's as true as a woman/husband could be
Both: how could a woman like her love a man the way she[ triplet]used to love ]me
how could a woman like me, love a man like him?
Woman: how could a man like him,
Scrooge: how could a woman like her,
Both: love a woman/man like me.
Scrooge: Spirit my heart of stone is breaking
Take me home. Take me home.
Past: Yes Scrooge, I see your soul is aching
Very well, Very well.
[the lights on side scenes fade to black; Past leads Scrooge around the stage and eventually back to his bed. where the obviously exhausted Scrooge returns to sleep]
END SCENE IV
SCENE V
[TIME
MUSIC PLAYS HERE-Entracte]
Spirits: O little town so silent sleeps
Your landlord rests his head
While there inside there may abide
A wraith underneath his bed
Beware old Scrooge for coming
Is something you will fear
So prepared you shall be scared
the ghost of the Now is here.
[the bell sounds 1 am]
6/8
Scrooge: Come out, Come out where’er you may be
I’m starting to learn, I’m beginning to see.
There’s a force here at work I may not understand
So please show me your face and I’ll give you my hand.
Present: Rise Ebenezer, Rise and stand before me
How dare you lie in bed show your respect among the dead
Scrooge: Spirit I can’t see you, I can only hear your voice
Can’t you show your face? Will you fall from grace?
Present: We haven’t very long you see
my time with you is brief
my life is rather short this time
you must adhere each word I speak.
The day has already begun
And there’s a dinner
That you’re going to see
Its at the house of your clerk, Bob Cratchit
They are deciding what the menu will be.
Scrooge: What’s with this Mexican beat
I see no purpose
But I’m tapping my feet
And either way it’s a change , I like it.
Make sure they bring an enchilada for me.
Present: go ahead and make your jokes
laugh
at other people’s pain
but this scene’s no laughing matter
and this journey’s not a game.
Come and gaze into the window
And as your looking at the day
Try to see your neighbor’s story
Listen to the things they say.
[scene focuses on Tiny
Tim and Bob Cratchit on their
way home from the public bakeries]
Tiny Tim: Father why are the bakeries closed
On a Sunday morn
Where will we find any ovens even warm
To bake our Christmas bread,
Mother’s Christmas bread.
The morning’s almost gone
And I am hungry.
Bob: Scrooge closed the bakeries son
Every Sunday morn.
The rich have their own to keep their dinner warm
And bake their Christmas bread, Mmm Christmas bread
Let’s go on inside,
I’m getting hungry.
Scrooge: I closed these bakeries in your name
Present: Not mine. Only yours
Scrooge: Does this mean they won’t eat today?
Present: It may…
[Tiny and Bob enter the family home; Tiny Tim quickly approaches his mother]
Tiny: Mother guess what I saw today.
Mother: What did you see?
Tiny: [recit] a turkey hanging high in the window,
in the store just down the street.
It must have been as big as two.
Bob: That’s true.
Mother: a turkey big as two?
You say__ ___ its true.
Well Tiny Tim put turkey from your mind.
For that will never be
A possibility for us…
GOD BLESS US EVERYONE
[spot Bob]
Bob: God blessed us with a family.
God blessed us with a home.
God gave us one another
With the love to keep us strong
God bless this Christmas
May thy will be ever done
Lord this family needs your blessing
God bless us everyone.
[spot Mrs Cratchit]
Mother: As we gather today around this table
Let’s remember those worse off than we are
I know at times, it seems we’re losing the battle
But in the end, we are winning the war.
[spot Tiny Tim]
Tiny Tim: As we celebrate our Christmas day together
Let us pray for our health to be much better
For I know they’ll come a day, when I can put this crutch away
You wait and see,
The lord will bring that day to me.
ALL: God blessed us with a family.
God blessed us with a home.
God gave us one another
With the love to keep us strong
God bless this Christmas
May thy will be ever done
Lord this family needs your blessing
God bless us everyone
God keep us, God save us
TIM: God bless us everyone!
Scrooge: Tell me spirit what ails this boy?
Tell me spirit Will he live?
Present: I see a vacant chair at the table
A crutch in the corner with no owner.
If these shadows of today remain
Unchanged by the future,
Then this crippled little boy will surely die!
Scrooge: No, No, Oh no kind spirit
say he will be spared
Certainly this can’t be in your plan.
Present: Why concern youelf
with such a petty little cause
he’s just a crippled boy
why not just let him die
Would the world be better off
With one less crippled boy around
and ease the family greatly
from their heavy burden?
Who’s to say? Anyway I can stay no longer.
Scrooge: Is this all that you wanted me to see?
Present: Is it not enough?
Scrooge: Yes, its quite enough.
Present: Then return you to your dreamland
And stay there while you can
For this last of three dark spirits
Can ice the soul in any man
[TRAVEL MUSIC]
Spirits: [come
sweet death]
What soul is this who sleeps this night
While death’s dark angel is nearing.
The bell now tolls three times for you
To herald the sprit’s appearing.
[bell tolls three times ]
Scrooge: How could it be the stroke of three
I know I didn’t sleep an hour.
And why am I so cold?
Fire’s burning in the stove.
I admit I’m getting scared.
Hello? Is someone there?
c# minor theme
Spirits: <whispering> [Ebenezer] [Here I am]
[The ghost of Christmas yet to come leads
Scrooge
to the center of town where people are whispering
bits of gossip]
Spirits:[c#]Dies irae
Dies illa
Solvet saeclum in favilla
Teste David cum Sybilla
Dies irae Dies illa.
Quantos tremor est futurus
Quando judex est venturus
Cuncta stricte discussurus.
Scrooge: We’re in the center of my town,
How we came I do not know
But there are people laughing
Dancing in the streets,
Sharing a bit of gossip I can’t hear.
What are they saying? Spirit let me hear.
Townspeople: I hear they robbed a dead man.
Robbed him right in his house
As he lay there dead
A heart attack I read
They snuck in quiet as a mouse
And since not a soul was there to mourn
They robbed him of the clothes he wore
They stole his shirt, his shoes
whatever they could use.
even stole the bed on which he lay
They stole his rings, his gold
Everything I’m told
Even stole the shroud across his face
I hear they robbed a dead man
took everything of value in the place!
Then they left his body there
(for no one really cared)
And disappeared with out a single trace.
And since no one came around
It was weeks before he was found
This man who used to be
A menace to society
Scrooge: How horrible to rob a dead man
Robbing him right in his home!
No one came to help him?
No one tried to stop them?
Why did he have to die alone?
And was there anyone to bury him?
Or care enough to place a stone?
Spirits: [you will see] [Ebenezer] [I shall take you]
Dies irae
Dies illa
Solvet saeclum in favilla
Teste David cum Sybilla
Dies irae Dies illa.
Quantos tremor est futurus
Quando judex est venturus
Cuncta stricte discussurus
Scrooge: This is an awful place to be
In a graveyard dark and grim
Is that a headstone standing all alone?
Lost among the growing weeds.
The grass has grown so high
how can anyone read the name?
Tell me spirit what the markings say
Wait I know… this is the man those people robbed.
The man who no one cared for
the man whose death was never missed.
Tell me spirit I must know
who's buried in that grave below
I'll just clear these weeds aside
to better see the name Dear God, "It's Mine!!!"
Spirits: "Ebenezer" "Ebenezer"
[the spirits grab Scrooge and start to carry him to his grave where they begin to lower him into the ground]
Scrooge:Give me one more chance I beg!
Say this is not my fate.
Take me from this horrid place
I can change it's not too late!!
[Scrooge disappears into the ground …]
[travel music]
[lights fade to black, Death exits, Scrooge exits to bed; as lights come back up, the music changes to the dawn theme; lights should be at full when the chorus begins to sing. ]
Chorus:Joy to the world the lord is [what's that I hear] come
Let earth receive her king [I'm alive!]
Let every heart prepare him room
and heaven and nature sing.[They must be carolers]
heaven and nature sing[I should go down to greet them and hear them sing]
and heaven and nature sing.
Joy to the world the Savior reigns
Let men their songs employ
while fields and floods
rocks hills and plains
repeat the sounding joy
repeat the sounding joy
repeat the sounding joy
Scrooge: "And what a beautiful sound it is
and from such wonderful people!"
Tell me, if you will, what day it is?
Caroler: Why Mr. Scrooge! Its Christmas day
Scrooge: I haven’t slept through it after all! Merry Christmas,
It’s Never too late to say Merry Christmas
Say it and your life has just begun
Chorus: There’s no better thing to say
To brighten up your day
Merry Christmas Everyone
Times may seem hard sometimes
And life can get you down
But here’s two words for you to say
That can turn your life around
its never too late to say Merry Christmas
Say it and your life has just begun
There’s no better thing to say
To brighten up your day
You never know it may be strange but
Even the worst of us can change Its
Never too late to say Merry Christmas
You feel it in your heart you know its true
There’s no better thing to say
To brighten up your day
Merry Christmas to you
Scrooge: its never too late to say Merry Christmas
Say it and your life has just begun
There’s no better thing to say
To brighten up your day
I know you think it very strange but
Even a man like me can change
Everyone: its Never too late to say Merry Christmas
You feel it in your heart you know its true
It’s Never too late to change
It’s never too late to say
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you!
Scrooge: sir would you be so kind
and take this gold of mine
down the street to where a turkey hangs
and if the story’s true
buy that turkey big as two
And take it to the home of Mr. Cratchit
[fred’s theme]
If he should ask from where it came
Make sure you mention not my name.
And in exchange for such a call
what gold is left keep for you all.
I have plans of mine to keep
A Christmas dinner invitation
That in the past I have refused
But now I have no hesitation
Now at last I finally see
What a blessing Christmas time can be.
God changed my life completely.
A master’s holy plan
He showered me in mercy
And spared a wicked man
God bless this Christmas
May thy will be ever done
God Bless the hungry
God bless the poor
God bless this Christmas Day
God bless us everyone
God blessed us with a family.
God blessed us with a home
God gave us one another
With the love to keep us strong
God bless this Christmas
May thy will be ever done
God Bless the hungry
God bless the poor
God bless this Christmas Day
God bless us everyone
